I’ve noticed throughout my twenty years of climbing, that it’s mostly people’s heads that stop them from achieving what they want to in climbing, not their bodies. I’ve also noticed that a lot of people aren’t having as much fun as they could be at the crag because their minds get in the way. During the last few months I’ve tried to build my knowledge of the problem of the mind in climbing. Part of this research has lead me to carry out a number of interviews - both written and recorded, with expert, beginners and intermediate level climbers.
This interview is with Mina Leslie Wujastyk. Mina has bouldered V12 and climbed 8c, yet in this interview she talks a lot about saying ‘take’, down climbing moves, jumping off; anything not to go that bit too high above the bolt. Can you relate?
It’s an audio file so you can listen to it whilst in the car, or cleaning the house?
